Dr. Suffoletto is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and a clinical investigator with interest in mobile health. Over the last six years, he has developed expertise in designing and evaluating computerized systems that use mobile phone text messaging (SMS) to collect self-reported information and deliver behavioral support and motivation to improve health outcomes across a range of conditions. He has a Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award from NIAAA for his work on developing SMS text message interventions to reduce heavy episodic drinking in adults. This work has led to experience with designing effective and engaging mobile behavioral interventions, conducting multi-site clinical trials, adhering to ethical principles in vulnerable population studies, and conducting advanced data analysis (including intensive longitudinal models).
